Coffee & Conversation #13

Coffee & Conversation

Welcome to Coffee and Conversation!

This Week's Question:
What's the meaning behind your blog title and why? Do you believe you have upheld the meaning's purpose?

What is the meaning behind your blog?

Have you been asked that question? I have and I love when I do because I get to share a little piece of my heart. I love to read. I love finding a great book and digging in. Elizabeth George is one of my favorites, I recommend anything that she has written.

So here is my answer to that question...the meaning behind "A Weaving of Grace"..

" A Weaving of Grace"... This is a phrase I came across while reading a book by Elizabeth George. "The Remarkable Women of the Bible" is a fantastic book and I highly recommend reading it. One of my favorite ladies in the Bible is Ruth. In her book, Elizabeth George, calls Ruth a woman of remarkable devotion, oh how I pray I would have devotion like Ruth. My all time favorite quote that I found while reading this book is about Ruth. George says,

"We must seek to see the hand of God in all events of life.
If we believe in a sovereign God, if we believe in His loving providence,
then we must choose to consider all that touches our lives as
Him at work once again."

I love that and it is a great reminder that whatever we go through (good or bad) is a part of His plan and He is at work at all times in our lives.

Side Note: Another fantastic book about the life of Ruth is written by John Piper. This is on my top five favorite books of all times list. It is seriously the best. Go read it!!

Hannah is another woman I fell in love with while reading, Remarkable Women of the Bible. Hannah is a woman that endured SO much hardship but through it all she stayed faithful and prayed to the Lord. Elizabeth George relates Hannah's life to weaving. Throughout Hannah's life she was weaved some dark threads but there was also threads of faith and devotion in her life.

Just like Hannah, we have hardships (they come in all sizes and shapes) but in these hardships we also have a Weaver who promises to never leave or forsake us. The Lord is weaving threads one at a time in our lives. He knows the pattern.

All we have to do is trust Him.

Trusting is easier said than done at times but just as God weaved different threads through Hannah's life, I know He is weaving threads through mine and yours and they are all there to bring Him glory.

Our lives are examples of God's grace at work. Just like we have hardships and different obstacles weaved through our lives, we also have grace. Amazing Grace.

Elizabeth George put a poem in her book and she said it was given to her by a attendant at a wool factory in Ireland.

The Divine Weaver

My life is but a weaving
Between my Lord and me;
I cannot choose the colors
He worketh steadily.
Ofttimes He weaveth sorrow
And I, in foolish pride,
Forget that He seeth the upper,
And I the under side.
Not till the loom is silent
And the shuttles cease to fly,
Shall God unroll the canvas
And explain the reason why.
The dark threads are as needful
In the Weaver's skillful hand,
As the threads of gold and silver
In the pattern He as planned.

How perfect is that..

So there you have it..A Weaving of Grace is a daily reminder that God is in control and I am so thankful. I am trusting in the Weaver. Our lives are crazy, fun, hard, disappointing, questionable, happy, etc. and through it all we have a God who loves us unconditionally.

The title of my blog is not something, so much, that you have to uphold, it is more about a daily reminder. A reminder of WHO is in control of this life we live. It is beyond refreshing to remember why I started to blog in the first place. No matter where life takes us, I know my sweet Savior is there. How sweet is it to know that He is at work in your life.
